When browsing for custom keycaps, you'll notice they are categorized by "profile." The profile simply refers to the physical shape, height, and sculpt of the individual keys. Choosing the right profile is essential for typing comfort and speed.
OEM Profile: This is the standard shape found on most pre-built keyboards. It features a sculpted design where each row sits at a slightly different height and angle to meet your fingers naturally.
Cherry Profile: Widely considered the gold standard for enthusiasts, Cherry profile keycaps are sculpted like OEM but sit slightly lower to the board. This reduced height reduces wrist fatigue and creates a very clean, snappy typing feel. Cherry profile is the most widely available in international layouts — including German QWERTZ and French AZERTY variants.
